Ava Humphrey, MA

Hi! I'm Ava, and my approach to therapy is grounded in creating a safe, welcoming, empowering, and nonjudgmental space for people from all backgrounds. I aim to meet you exactly where you are with curiosity, care, collaboration, and respect for your lived experience, while also encouraging reflection and personal growth. I believe therapy should be personalized to each client’s concerns, which is why I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, psychoanalysis, and Internal Family Systems.

I enjoy working with clients of all genders, ages, and backgrounds, including women, men, transgender, and non-binary individuals. My experience covers a broad spectrum of issues, such as trauma, borderline personality disorder, OCD, mood disorders like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, as well as adjustment difficulties, anger issues, identity questions, substance use, and self-esteem concerns. In addition to working with a wide range of concerns, I am especially passionate about helping young adults and developing expertise in supporting male survivors of sexual trauma.

I am a pre-licensed counselor currently accepting new clients, available both virtually and in person. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fordham University and my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College.
