Ava Humphrey, MA
Hi! I'm Ava, and my approach to therapy is grounded in creating a safe, welcoming, empowering, and nonjudgmental space for people from all backgrounds. I aim to meet you exactly where you are with curiosity, care, collaboration, and respect for your lived experience, while also encouraging reflection and personal growth. I believe therapy should be personalized to each client’s concerns, which is why I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, psychoanalysis, and Internal Family Systems.
I enjoy working with clients of all genders, ages, and backgrounds, including women, men, transgender, and non-binary individuals. My experience covers a broad spectrum of issues, such as trauma, borderline personality disorder, OCD, mood disorders like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, as well as adjustment difficulties, anger issues, identity questions, and self-esteem concerns. In addition to working with a wide range of concerns, I am especially passionate about helping young adults and developing expertise in supporting male survivors of sexual trauma.
I am a pre-licensed counselor currently accepting new clients, available both virtually and in person. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fordham University and my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College.
