Katie Pieterse, EdM
Katie is a master’s level counselor who is dedicated to working holistically with each client to reach their personal goals. Her approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and respect, meeting clients where they are and creating a space where they feel seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. Katie centers her work around the idea that the client is the expert of their life. Her role is to offer support, evidence-based tools, and a collaborative relationship.
Katie brings both clinical expertise and a deep understanding of performance psychology to her work. Her clinical experience includes supporting college students, athletes, and high-performing individuals, particularly those navigating anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, ADHD, OCD, perfectionism, burnout, social anxiety, grief and trauma. Katie is also committed to supporting BIPOC clients and creating inclusive, culturally responsive care that honors the client’s lived experience.
Katie draws upon techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Act), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to create individualized treatment plans.
Katie completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Yale University and her Master of Education in Counseling, specializing in Sport Psychology at Boston University.
